Handsome George Clooney is currently filming Ides of March, a movie about a Democratic governor campaigning in presidential primaries who gets a crash course on how dirty politics really are.
The movie is based on the Broadway play Farragut North, a political drama which is loosely based on the 2004 Democratic Primary run of Howard Dean.
Ides of March also stars Ryan Gosling, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Paul Giamatti, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright and Max Minghella. Quite a lineup!
According to Variety, Sony wanted to keep the title as “Farragut North”, but Clooney insisted that it be changed to The Ides of March. “Ides of March” is a reference to the seer’s unheeded warning of Caesar’s death in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar.
The studio is planning to release the film in January 2012 – wonder if that means that the film has some awards potential!
