Today is IHOPs National Pancake Day, where you can visit your local IHOP and enjoy a free short stack of their famous buttermilk pancakes. All they ask you to do is leave a donation which will go to the Children’s Miracle Network, and other local charities.
IHOP first started the National Pancake Day celebration back in 2006, and has so far risen over $5.35 million to support local communities and charities. Normally the celebration takes place on Shrove Tuesday, but this year the restaurant chain wants to build the excitement earlier to further raise awareness of the scheme.
They are aiming to raise $2.3 million this year for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, and other charities. In total they are hoping to give away a massive five million free pancakes this year, and every dollar stays in the community where it was donated. One in nine children in the US are treated in a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, so every dollar donated really helps.
