Finally, an article about something I care about! Us Weekly managed to identify the designer for Kate Middleton’s navy suit, the one Waity wore for “her last public appearance as a single woman.” As I said, I liked the suit, and now I know it was made by British designer Amanda Wakeley. My only real complaint is that the material (cotton sateen?) wrinkles too easily.

    No short skirts and flirty dresses for the future Queen of England. Kate Middleton suited up in a tailored Amanda Wakeley navy number during her Monday outing with Prince William in Blackburn, Lancashire.

    “I think she looks fantastic,” designer Wakeley told Grazia magazine of the royal-to-be’s look, which is from a past season. “I love the fact that the color of the suit echoes the deep sapphire of her engagement ring.”

    Despite the rainshowers, Middleton, 29, and Prince William, 28, spent the day visiting the Darwen Aldridge Community Academy and Witton Country Park, where they were greeted by crowds of well-wishers. This marked their final public jaunt together before their April 29th wedding day.

    Eyes from all around the world will be glued to television sets as the princess-to-be walks down the Westminster Abbey aisle, debuting her much-anticipated bridal gown.

    Designer Wakeley is among the million curious to find out which designer is behind the wedding dress of the century. “Whoever is designing it is incredibly lucky,” she added to Grazia.

Feel better? Just me? Okay then. Anyway, I wanted to use more photos from Kate and William’s public outing on Monday because this hair style is how Kate is ALLEGEDLY going to wear her hair for the wedding. HuffPo calls it “half-up, half-down” which doesn’t sound like a real “style” but sure. I like her hair like this. But it gets even more exciting!

According to The Mail, which is the tabloid with sources deep in the Middleton camp, Waity and Camilla are engaged in a Battle Royale over many of the wedding details, and the latest fight is over Kate’s hair and whether or not she’s going to wear a tiara. Camilla is apparently “desperate” to force Kate to wear one of the royal tiaras for the wedding, but Kate wants to wear… GASP… flowers in her hair!!!! How quaint!

UPDATE: Oh, Waity was just “confirmed”. She is now officially a member of the Church of England.

By the way, is anyone excited for the exquisite cheesefest of Lifetime’s William & Kate movie? It’s coming on next Monday, I think, and I cannot wait!

With the royal wedding just weeks away, the gorgeous white dress Kate Middleton wore in her engagement photos to Prince William is back on the market.

Because it was SO last season, it was out of stock for some time.

The silk, collarless dress, with lacy detail own the front from the brand Whistles has been reissued and is available on the brand's website for 125 pounds.

Here's the engagement photo of the Prince and future Princess:

"Whistles is known for its vintage inspired silk blouses, which are currently best sellers in its stores," Jane Shepherdson, chief executive of Whistles said.

Not surprisingly, demand spiked since late last year: "We are delighted Catherine chose to wear Whistles in her engagement photographs," she added.

Like many of Kate's fashion choices, the blouse is from a past season's collection, making it difficult for royal fashion fans to buy one. Until now!

Prince William and Kate Middleton will tie the knot in just over a month, and now the hype about their royal wedding has turned to their honeymoon. Just where will these two go? Possibly Australia!

Prince William is currently visiting Australia, and mentioned that he'd love to go scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef -- perhaps on their romantic getaway. He said (via People.com ): "I love scuba diving. I have always wanted to dive the [Great] Barrier Reef. I will have to come back – maybe we'll have a honeymoon in Cairns [Australia]?"

This was definitely a casual mention, so we shouldn't leave out the possibility that the prince and his bride might go somewhere like the Maldives, or Wales, or Greece, or anywhere else in the world, really. Heck, they could just take a round-the-world trip, we imagine!

And according to a report, the soon-to-be-Royal uses a product from a Swiss cosmetics company called Karin Herzog.

A rep from the company told press, “Kate’s a fan. She particularly likes the Vita-Kombi Day and Night cream.”

And with her massive wedding just over a month away, Miss Middleton is sure to be using plenty of that product to look her best.

Sorry, Phillipa Lepley. A new name has emerged as the leading contender to design Kate Middleton's wedding gown.

Now London's Sunday Times and Daily Telegraph are both reporting that Sarah Burton (from the house of Alexander McQueen) has earned the honor.

"The design of the dress [will] be a combination of Miss Middleton's own ideas and Mrs Burton's quirky interpretation of high fashion," states the Telegraph, adding that Burton was "chosen for the discretion afforded by her relatively low profile, as well as for her alternative take on elegance."

Whether because of stress or he did it intentionally to welcome her wedding in April, the prospective princess, Kate Middleton reportedly had lost weight drastically. In fact, her dress size went down four sizes all at once!

This was said by a photographer of The Sun, Arthur Edwards, who observed the development or in this case the weight loss that occurred in Prince William’s fiancees. Previously, Kate was sized 10, and is now down to 6.

The same thing happened in late prospective mother-in-law, Lady Diana, when she was about to marry the father of William, Prince Charles. At that time, The Sun had time to give advise to Diana to stop losing weight, which will also be submitted to Kate.

“The Sun gives advice to Diana to stop losing weight. And I will do the same to her. She’s naturally beautiful and there is no point of losing weight again,” said Edwards. Yep, that’s right, who wants to walk the aisle in just skin and bones?

After yesterday’s successful outing to christen a lifeboat in Wales, Kate Middleton and Prince William made their second official royal appearance today in Scotland, at their alma mater, St. Andrews. This is where they met and fell in love, and it is where they returned, for some event for the Papal Bull. That’s not important though.

The important thing is Kate Middleton’s daring red suit, which is apparently “from her own wardrobe” (meaning she didn’t buy a new suit for the outing, meaning she’s really frugal). I like Kate Middleton a lot better here - hair down, smart suit, not as buttoned up. She looks younger and more relaxed. But my goodness, she’s getting so skinny. She wasn’t this thin when they announced the engagement - she must have lost 10 to 15 pounds in the past two months alone.

I hope she’s not “pulling a Diana”. Ugh. Here’s more about the visit:

Britain’s Prince William and his bride-to-be Kate Middleton, returned to the scene of their early romance Friday, visiting St. Andrews University in Fife, Scotland. As patron of the university’s 600th Anniversary Appeal, Prince William officially launched the event, viewing the surviving Papal Bull — a series of letters issued by the pope in 1413 — and unveiling a plaque in front of students and staff.

Prince William, who is second line to the British throne, studied art history at St. Andrews when he first met Kate Middleton in 2001. The pair grew closer after moving into a shared house with two other friends and were said to have started dating in late 2003. They both graduated in 2005.

“Catherine might be a bit emotional today,” said CNN royal contributor Mark Saunders. “She came here (St. Andrews) as just as a normal student and she comes back today as a woman who will one day sit on the throne of England. This university claims it has the most student marriages of any university in Great Britain. My theory is, this is such a small town that there really isn’t anything else to do but fall in love.”

As a wedding present to the couple, the university has established a new scholarship in honor of its two graduates.

“We were very pleased to make the offer of this scholarship as a wedding gift… and absolutely delighted that they have graciously accepted,” university principal and vice-chancellor Louise Richardson said in a statement.

It is the second official engagement for the couple, who launched a lifeboat in Anglesey, north Wales yesterday.

The pair currently resides in Anglesey while Prince William serves as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot. Their first official engagement was said to be deliberately low-key, in order to ease Middleton into royal life.

I can think of some other things to do in Scotland besides “fall in love”. Like… play golf, drink, and bone Scottish dudes. Seriously.

But I do think it’s cute that they went back to where it all started for them. And I love the suit, and I’m starting to have high hopes for our little Waity (HRH Duchess of Crumpets).

I know I just covered this a few hours ago, but there are some new photos, a video, eyewitness accounts, and lots of good stuff. Today marked Kate Middleton’s first official outing as a soon-to-be-royal. She and William christened a lifeboat - go here for my earlier post.

There are more details: William didn’t let Kate Middleton speak before the gathered Welsh, but he did allow her to be the one to pour champagne on the hull. I love the photos of the two of them hamming it on the stage - and I like that William is openly affectionate with her. Like, he doesn’t have a problem putting his arm around her or openly enjoying her at his side.

It’s nice, and refreshing from a member of the royal family. Also, Kate Middleton had to sing the Welsh national anthem – “Hen Wlad fy NhaDau (Land of my Fathers)”. She practiced! Here’s the video - I love snooty British people, for real.

Also, it was really windy today in Wales, and Kate Middleton’s always-perfect coif got mangled in the wind. There are a few shots of her where she’s giving what I think is a bitchface, but I will also accept that her default expression is kind of bitchy.

As for the coat - it is by Katherine Hooker, and Kate Middleton has apparently had it for years. She was photographed in the same coat in 2006, at the Sheltenham Gold Cup - but in 2006, it was calf-length. The Telegraph reports that Kate Middleton brought it back into Katherine Hooker’s studio and had them shorten it. The coat has a name too! It’s “The London Contrast” in Shetland herringbone, with brown velvet trim. The ankle boots are Russell & Bromley.

Thanks to everyone who corrected me on Kate Middleton wearing a fascinator (not a “hatlet” as I called it). The fascinator was designed and handmade by Vivien Sheriff Millinery. Their spokeswoman Maddie O’Mahony tells People Magazine: “We saw it on the Internet and we were extremely happy… She has quite a few of our pieces and luckily she wore one of ours today.” It’s made of brown velvet and trimmed with pheasant feathers and a Welsh badge.

So… do you think it was everything Waity expected? This is what she was positioning herself for. For nine long years.

I really am excited. Kate Middleton has started working! Huzzah! Today in Wales, Kate Middleton and Prince William stepped out for their first official royal appearance before the public. It was a ceremony for the naming of a lifeboat. For real. They hold ceremonies for that junk! The lifeboat was christened “Hereford Endeavour” with is so, so fancy. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hereford Endeavor joins a fleet of lifeboats with names like Higgenbottom Fancypants and Rumpcrumpet Biscuitshire. Anyhoodle, I guess when you’re christening a smaller vessel, you don’t slam a champagne bottle against the fiberglass hull, you just pour champagne on the hull. Sure.

So… how did Kate do for her first public outing as a soon-to-be-royal? Lady Biscuits (Kate) did well, I think. She smiled a lot and seemed to be pleased to be there. The Welsh probably already adore her. My only criticism is that she chose this plain beige suit and a funky feather hat. Hatlet. Headpiece. Whatever. Oh, and she looks super-skinny too. She’s losing a lot of weight for her wedding day.

"William & Kate" Gets Lifetime Air Date

Giving the much-awaited show a debut date, Prince William and Kate Middleton's Lifetime special will air on April 18th at 9PM ET/PT.

The project is titled "William & Kate" and delves into the story of how the British royal ended up falling for his bride-to-be.

As for the cast, "William & Kate" finds "NCIS: Los Angeles" star Nico Evers-Swindell portraying Prince William while Camilla Luddington of "CSI" was nabbed to play Kate Middleton.

Lifetime also is rolling out a six-part documentary series titled "Royal Wedding of a Lifetime" prior to the much-awaited nuptials set to take place at Westminster Abbey on April 29th.

Kate Middleton's see-through dress that she wore as part of a university fashion show in 2002 is set to go under the hammer next month.

Her catwalk debut reportedly marked the first time her husband-to-be Prince William first saw the attractive brunette, reports Contactmusic.

Middleton wore the Charlotte Todd knitted slip at a St. Andrews University charity fashion show.

Todd, who now works in an aquarium, has kept the outfit ever since it was returned to her.

The dress will be sold at a Kerry Taylor Auctions sale in March (2011).

"It's definitely a showstopping dress. I'd like to think I played my part in history and in fashion history," Todd said.

The royal engagement pictures are finally out! Kate Middleton and Prince William had their official photo shoot. The photographer chosen for the honor of documenting the royal couple’s relationship, was Mario Testino. The choice is actually very fitting seeing as how he has also photographed Princess Diana, and the Prince William and Prince Harry as they grew up. He’s basically the family’s go-to photographer.

I don’t actually have rights to the royal engagement photos, however, you can see them here. Kate looks GORGEOUS as she shows off that rock! And they both seem so happy together. I hope that the pressures of royal life doesn’t get to them and their relationship. Though, after being together for some 8 or 9 years, I’m sure they’re both used to it.

Kate 'to become popular baby name'

The name of royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is expected to become one of the most popular ones for newborn girls in 2011, according to research.

Thousands more baby girls are due to be christened after Prince William's fiancee, or something very close, repeating the trend seen following past royal weddings.

The number of babies with a derivative of the name Kate - Cate, Catherine, the fiancee's full name, Katie and Katy, totalled 2,466 in 2009.

If this number doubles as predicted to 4,932 in 2011 it would come second, if last year's figures for England and Wales remain static, behind the top name of Olivia (5,201) and ahead of third place Ruby (4,555).

The family history website Ancestry.co.uk has mapped the popularity of names in the year of royal nuptials from millions of birth records.

The data reveals that when William's mother Lady Diana Spencer married his father the Prince of Wales in 1981 the popularity of her name doubled from 36 to 72.

A spokesman for the Ancestry website said: "This may not sound a lot at first glance, but to use a recent example, in 2009 there were around 313,000 births of baby girls and 5,556 different girls names registered, so there are actually much fewer girls born with each name than you'd think.

"The most popular names always dominate the name count, usually with a birth count of 4,000 to 5,000-plus."

The effect royal brides have on naming trends can be seen in the years when the Queen Mother and the Queen both walked down the aisle.

In 1923 when the Queen Mother married George VI, an additional 846 Elizabeths were born, a 14% increase compared with the previous year, and when the present monarch wed the Duke of Edinburgh in 1947 there were a further 124 Elizabeths that year compared with 1946, up 10%.
