 If the girl gets to make her wedding the most perfect day of her life, the guy might as well be able to have a pretty awesome honeymoon, right? Vanessa Minnillo has apparently given fiance Nick Lachey free reign on planning their romantic post-wedding retreat.

"Weddings by nature are more for the bride," Lachey told Us. "I'm responsible for the honeymoon. That's my goal."

But he's not totally dismissing future Miss Lachey's desires. "You want to pick a place where your bride wants to spend her first week being married," he added.

Surely it will be a relaxing trip for these two, who are already regulars at luxurious vacation spots like Cabo San Lucas.

 Nick Lachey proposed to Vanessa Minnillo last November after dating for four years, and he's pleased with their wedding preparations so far.

He said: "We're working on it. We're getting there slowly but surely…we're inching our way along."

Speaking at a swim party hosted by Sports Illustrated at Vanity Nightclub in Las Vegas, the former reality TV star -- who divorced Jessica Simpson in 2005 after three years of marriage -- also revealed he only has eyes for his bride-to-be.

He told E! Online: "It's a look, no touch party for me so I'm just gonna enjoy it from afar.

"Vanessa looks as good if not better than any of the models you see behind me in a swimsuit."

Earlier this month, Nick, 37, told of how their engagement was part of a "carefully calculated plan" because he didn't want to fail in his proposal to the 30-year-old beauty.

He explained: "You gotta take it in stages. If you set the bar too high then you set yourself up for failure. This was a carefully calculated plan. You have to set the romance but you have to take it in phases. This was phase one."

It sounds like Nick Lachey is being completely honest about his upcoming wedding to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.

“I want it to be about her,” Lachey tells PEOPLE. “Any guy will tell you that it’s probably more about the bride than the groom. It’s just about celebrating your love for each other.”

He said they aren’t in the planning stages yet, but it sounds like Nick’s pretty much going to leave that to Vanessa. But don’t take that as a sign he doesn’t love her.

“She’s my soulmate in every way,” he gushes. “She gets me, I get her. We enjoy a lot of the same things and we enjoy each other’s company.”

Awww… I’m glad these two hung in there and are getting married . it can’t have been easy for Nick after his divorce from Jessica Simpson.

Rumors quickly circulated that she was “flipping out” when ex husband Nick Lachey proposed to fiancée Vanessa Minnillo last week, but Jessica Simpson recently cleared the air on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.

On Thursday morning (November 11), the “Come On Over” singer explained, "I am extremely, extremely happy for him."


She added, "I don't know where all those rumors came from. My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying that I was 'saddened.' I was just in complete shock. I couldn't be more happy for Nick.”

"Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa [Minnillo]," she went on. "I do, and I really wish them nothing but the best."

Nick Lachey, former boy band member and ex-husband of Jessica Simpson, asked his long-time love, Vanessa Minnillo to get married. She accepted and since, has been sporting a pretty sick (meaning beautiful) ring on her all-important finger.

This is seemingly a huge step for Lachey, considering his heartbreak after he and Jessica broke up. Between the two, Nick has been more stable in the romance department. While he dated a bevyy of beauties, including maybe Kim Kardashian, he has been with Vanessa pretty steadily.

Jessica, on the other hand has had lots of high-profile “romances,” almost always ending in heartbreak, for her. I don’t know but I think she made a big mistake when she left Nick. He seemed to really love her. Since then, it sees that she has only found guys who wanted to bed her not wed her like Nick did.

Anyhoo, congrats to Nick and Vanessa. Hopefully, Jessica can find a good guy who wants to do right by her and get married. The new guy, the ex-football player, doesn’t look promising considering he just got divorced and none of her friends like him.
