Serena Williams Develops Nail Polish Collection for OPI

Should Serena Williams ever tire of battling it out on the tennis courts, she can always fall back on her cosmetology skills.

The style-savvy athlete and talented manicurist has just announced a collaboration with OPI on a special array of nail polish shades: The Glam Slam! France collection. PeopleStyleWatch reports the shades will be released in conjunction with May's French Open, with polishes packaged together to be used in two-textured nail patterns.

Williams stated, "Whether I'm on or off the court, style is important. In addition to watching the runways for the latest trends, I think it's important to add my own unique elements."

Serena Williams Hospitalized for Pulmonary Embolism

Serena Williams was rushed to an L.A. hospital yesterday to undergo emergency treatment for a pulmonary embolism ... this according to the 29-year-old tennis star's rep.

Williams' rep released a statement explaining, "Monday Serena Williams underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation."

The statement continues, "Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism [a blood clot in the lungs] which was discovered upon her return to L.A.  She had been in New York for doctor appointments for the ongoing issues with her foot."

The rep added, "Doctors are continuing to monitor her situation closely to avoid additional complications."

Tennis star Serena Williams underwent "emergency treatment" Monday, days after doctors discovered a blood clot in her lungs, People magazine reported.

Spokeswoman Nicole Chabot told the magazine that Williams "underwent emergency treatment for a hematoma suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation."

Williams suffered from a pulmonary embolism last week, Chabot said. The 29-year-old Williams is being treated at a Los Angeles hospital.

Serena Williams Hospitalized for Blood Clot

Making for quite the scary situation, Serena Williams has been hospitalized after suffering a blood clot in her lungs.

Being admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Monday (February 28), the tennis star is said to be receiving care for a haematoma - a pooling of blood caused by a haemorrhage.

The situation comes after Miss Williams endured a health scare last week after being diagnosed with a blood clot in her lungs following a trip to New York for treatment to her ongoing foot injury.

Serena's representative told People magazine, "(On) Monday Serena Williams underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a haematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation. Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism which was discovered upon her return to L.A. She had been in New York for doctor appointments for the ongoing issues with her foot. Doctors are continuing to monitor her situation closely to avoid additional complications."
