Jodie Foster Stands Up for Mel Gibson

He’s one of the most hated men in Hollywood these days, thanks to recordings of drunken violent rants and his reputation as a woman beater, but Mel Gibson has an ally in Jodie Foster.

The “Silence of the Lambs” actress seems to be able to look past all of Gibson’s faults to see what she calls “a brilliant man, a beautiful talent, and a loyal, loyal friend.”


Foster told press, “From the moment I met him, there was such a connection that I knew we would be friends for the rest of my life.”

Jodie directed and costarred with Mel in “The Beaver.” “We work exactly in the same way: No bulls**t. We’ve had so many conversations about the topics the film explores.”

Gibson’s personal struggles were the very reason Jodie cast him in the role. “I knew he could relate so much to Walter’s struggles that there was no way he would play it as a comedy. That Mel’s character be dramatically consumed in this internal struggle was very important to me.”

Perhaps this explains why Mel Gibson's mug shot painted such a grumpy, serious picture of the man this week. He's preparing for an all-out legal war.

The actor's lawyers will appear in court Monday and ask the judge in his custody battle to award him sole custody of Lucia, according to court papers.

Mel pleaded no contest to battery last week, ending a year-long saga of nasty allegations from Lucia's mother and Gibson's ex, Oksana Grigorieva.

But that was really just the conclusion of the first chapter.


In addition to attempting to take custody away from Oksana, Mel Gibson's lawyers will ask Judge Scott Gordon to award her visitation only with a monitor.

Gibson, whose no contest plea is NOT an admission of guilt (he denies her allegations), also wants the judge to deny Oksana overnight visits with the baby.


Mel's lawyers argue in the court documents that Oksana's "false and derogatory statements" about Mel show she is not acting in the best interests of Lucia.

Oksana Grigorieva has trashed him once again this week, even after Judge Gordon has warned her in the past that she could lose custody if she talked to the media.

This comes after the Mel Gibson tapes, too. Oksana was not charged with extortion, to Mel's dismay, but her shadiness in recording him is beyond dispute.

It’s been a long time coming, and finally yesterday (March 16) “The Beaver” saw the light of day thanks to the South By Southwest Festival.

Director/actress Jodie Foster showed up at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas to promote the flick, looking cute in a tan jacket, black skirt and black heels.

Meanwhile, actor Mel Gibson was far away in Los Angeles as he turned himself in for booking at the El Segundo Police Department following his “no contest” plea in his domestic abuse case with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

Additionally, “The Beaver” has continued to push forward with the release of three new trailers to entice potential moviegoers- “Read the Card,” “Mess and Amazing,” and “This is a Joke.”

His life hasn’t exactly been full of good news over the past year or so, so Mel Gibson was overjoyed to welcome his third grandchild over the weekend.

The troubled “Lethal Weapon” actor’s 30-year-old daughter Hannah gave birth to a happy and healthy baby boy on Saturday (March 12).

Hannah is married to blues singer Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and they also have another son and a daughter.

Charlie Sheen says Mel Gibson is one cool dude.

At some point, Gibson may want to take a critical lesson from his admirer and start #WINNING. Lately in court, dude's been doing anything but.

Oksana Grigorieva and her team of lawyers have scored yet another victory against Gibson, who must cough up $300,000 for her legal fees.

WOE IS MEL: Gibson must pay the $300,000 immediately.

Oksana's lawyers, which total more than 40, have asked for a figure exceeds an incredible $3 million. This for a custody battle involving one child, mind you.

They've also defended Oksana against extortion allegations, of course, and helped her make the case that Mel committed domestic violence against her.

He is likely to be charged soon, sources say. It's unclear how much Mel has paid in legal fees thus far, but talk about running up a tab, with no end in sight.

Before Mel Gibson, Oksana Grigorieva dated James Bond star Timothy Dalton, with whom she also has a child. The two still communicate - about Gibson, in fact.

According to reports, Grigorieva told a lawyer that Dalton will testify against Gibson in their case, revealing potentially damning evidence against the actor.

In the battery and extortion investigations into Gibson and Grigorieva, she alleges he punched her and that "Tim" saw a bruise on her left eye after the fact.

"Tim saw a bruise on my left eye as well as Mady," Oksana said, referring also to her facialist and Dalton, the father of Grigorieva's teenage son Alexander.

"Both will testify," she added, noting: "Facts and witnesses."

If Gibson is charged with domestic abuse, the idea of Dalton - the subject of one of many Mel Gibson rants - testifying in court would make for a spectacle.

The revelations about Dalton, taken from Oksana's emails to an ex-attorney, came a day after we learned her desire to call his bluff and take her chances.

The e-mails, texts and documents uncovered in a Radar Online investigation reveal that over the course of last year, Grigorieva has also claimed:

•     That a furious Mel once flew from Costa Rica to "spy" on her
•     That he jealously accused his own friends of hitting on her
•     That she told two other doctors she was "hit by a man"
•     That she emailed a lawyer the night Mel allegedly hit her
•     That she also telephoned three friends - "Jimmy" and "Alicia and Robert Seidler" - the same night, who advised her to call the police
•     That she told Jimmy Mel was "threatening to come and kill me"

While the Russian musician has battled repeated claims she has changed her version of events, or is trying to bilk Mel for cash, the D.A. will ultimately decide whether her account is credible and what, if any, charges will be filed.

Oksana Grigorieva is not only feuding with Mel Gibson early, often and nastily, she thinks he should be on the hook for all legal expenses therewith.

To the tune of $163,000 a MONTH.

Mel just got a legal bill from one of Oksana's vast arsenal of lawyers, Alan Shifman of the firm Dewey, Cheatem & Howe. Just kidding. Probably.

RELENTLESS: Oksana cannot be stopped in her pursuit of cash justice.

Shifman claims he racked up a $163,000 fee for work performed from October 15-November 15. Then he was replaced like the 38 before him.

Even at $600 an hour, that means he worked about 272 hours during the month, or nine hours a day, seven days a week. Not sure we buy it.

Oksana's attorneys want Mel to pay more than $1 million in legal fees overall. She's too broke to bribe a witness OR pay lawyers, apparently.

Incredibly, Oksana Grigorieva's claims that Mel Gibson beat her during sex didn't sit well with the star. Now he's moving to have her stripped of custody, STAT.

Mel Gibson's lawyer went to court for an emergency hearing Friday, asking the judge to strip the "malicious" Oksana Grigorieva of custody of baby Lucia ASAP.

Oksana Grigorieva claimed earlier in the week that Mel Gibson beat her during sex to get aroused. Mel Gibson and his lawyers were outraged at the claim - and that it got out.

Mel accuses Oksana's camp of leaking confidential info.

Mel Gibson to Judge: Oksana is Malicious!

Mel Gibson's family lawyer, Stephen Kolodny, asked Judge Scott Gordon to strip custody from Oksana Grigorieva on grounds she acted maliciously by allegedly leaking the story.

The claim about Mel Gibson stems from a court deposition that was supposed to be kept confidential and hasn't been confirmed. It's unclear how the report got out.

Kolodny also argued many allegations Oksana Grigorieva made in her deposition have never been made before and is a belated attempt to smear Mel Gibson and harm Lucia.

The judge scheduled a full hearing for next month. (THG)

Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva won't be battling over custody this Christmas. Well, probably. They're splitting the holiday with baby Lucia down the middle.

Lucia will spend Christmas Eve with Oksana and the day itself with Mel. The plan was hashed out after Mel was awarded additional custody this month in court.

It should go off without a hitch ... though you never know. Mel actually almost called the police on Oksana for refusing to turn Lucia over on time recently.

Either way, December 26 it is so BACK ON!

Oskana Grigorieva has made numerous accusations against Mel Gibson, one of them being that he has been physically violent towards her. Gibson has until now either ignored the claims or denied them. Not any more. In a sworn declaration, Gibson admitted to slapping Oskana, though not hitting or punching her.

He claims that he slapped her because he feared for the safety of his daughter. According to Gibson, Oskana was so out of control and hysterical that she was putting their daughter in danger. Oskana’s take is a lot different, of course. She claims that Mel punched her in the head and in the mouth during an argument. The blow to the mouth was so forceful, according to Oskana that two of her teet were knocked out.

During an argument, one of many, Mel stated in the declaration, Oskana ran out of the house during the night with the baby. Mel, knowing how dangerous the grounds were at night, asked her to come back in. She did, but then begin to swing the baby around in a manner that was erratic. The baby’s head was being flung around. Mel, fearful, that the baby would experience Shaken Baby Syndrome, sprung into action. He slapped Oskana in the face one time. According to him, he was attempting to get her to come to her senses.

Well, again, that’s Mel take. Remember, there are three sides to every story, each party’s side and then the truth. Who knows what went down but it doesn’t sound good.

Oksana Grigorieva insist she never had relations with ex bodygurad

Mel Gibson's ex Oksana Grigorieva and her lawyer have slammed her former bodyguard's claims that he shared an intimate relationship with her.

Oksana and attorney Daniel Horowitz called bodyguard Kristian Herzog "Half blackmailer, and half psychopath," reports TMZ.com.

Oksana said, "He betrayed me," referring to the story that Herzog is writing a tell-all book, claiming he had an intimate relationship with her.

Horowitz said Herzog is a "complete liar," who got the job by lying and saying he was Jack Nicholson''s bodyguard.

Oskana Fires Bodyguard

It looks like this who English-language barrier thing continues to cause problems for Oskana. The embattled, “baby momma” of Mel Gibson seems to have been duped by her bodyguard, Kristen Otto Herzog. Well, Herzog is reportedly a scam artist and someone not fond of telling the truth.

One of his biggest “whoppers was that he was working for Oskana free of charge, courtesy of Jack Nicholson. Nicholson was supposedly footing the bill so that she wouldn’t have to. It turned out, that it was all lies All of it. Jack’s people denied even knowing Herzog.

Herzog has also had some pretty serious legal troubles. He has been charged with two felonies, impersonated a cop (complete with handguns and bullets) and spent time in jail.

Mel Gibson (the baby daddy) seemed to already have had an inkling that something was awry. He had a restraining order placed on Herzog before all of this damaging info was leaked.

Oskana was alerted by Mel but was unmoved, at least initially. That has since changed. Since everything has come to the forefront, Oskana has changed her tune and has given Herzog the boot. Hopefully, he goes quietly and without any issues.

Gibson delaying release of Grigorieva CD?

Mel Gibson has reportedly delayed the release of former partner Oksana Grigorieva's new CD.

The Oscar winner executive produced the LP and co-wrote some of the songs. Gibson also holds some of the publishing rights, according to TMZ.

However, Grigorieva cannot release the album, called Beautiful Heartache, without Gibson's written approval.

Gibson is currently involved in a bitter and public domestic violence investigation with Grigorieva.

I Didn’t Release Mel’s Tapes

She may have recorded Mel Gibson making racist remarks and threats of violence towards her on the phone, but Oksana Grigorieva says she never released those tapes to the public.

The former girlfriend of Gibson insists she never wanted the recordings of her babydaddy’s verbal tirades to be heard by the rest of the world.


She commented, “It’s terrible,” while also stating that she has no idea how the recordings ever made it into the hands of the media.

Oksana and Mel are locked in a terribly nasty breakup after having a daughter together. Mel left his longtime wife Robyn for Miss Grigorieva last year.

Mel Gibson violence claims investigated

Police in Los Angeles have been investigating claims that Mel Gibson was violent towards his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva during an alleged incident in January.

Radar Online obtained an audio recording in which Gibson supposedly admits to punching the Russian singer, saying that she "deserved it".

According to TMZ, the website's claims prompted officials at the LA County Sheriff's Department to open a domestic violence investigation.

A spokesperson for the Sherriff's Department said in a statement that investigators are "currently gathering information regarding the allegations".

The Braveheart star denies the accusations and the audio file has yet to be made public.

Gibson and Grigorieva split up earlier this year but the pair are now involved in a legal battle over visitation rights to their baby daughter Lucia.

Gibson was violent

Oksana Grigorieva has reportedly filed a restraining order against ex Mel Gibson after he recently filed one against her.

Grigorieva requested an emergency hearing last week at the family law court in Los Angeles, says TMZ. She told the judge Gibson was "extremely violent" toward her.

The judge issued a restraining order prohibiting Gibson from having any contact with the mother of his 7-month-old daughter, according to sources.

The Oscar winner's attorneys went back to court and successfully modified the order so that he would be allowed to see their daughter.

It has been reported that his restraining order against Grigorieva only prohibits her from releasing certain information.

Sources connected to Gibson have suggested that the alleged violent incidents occurred in January, months before the couple split.

An insider close to Grigorieva confirmed this but added: "There were other acts after January that were not physical but still constituted domestic violence."
