Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty get shock of their lives

Bollywood actor Preity Zinta, one of the owners of the Kings XI Punjab team of the Indian Premier League (IPL), said she is shocked by the decision of the Indian cricket body to terminate the contract of the franchise.

"Still absorbing the News! After working so hard in the IPL & putting my everything building this team dis [this] is not what I expected! Shocked !" she tweeted.

"Thank you guys for all ur msgs & support. I know there is a god up there and he is looking out for me  " She posted on her Twitter account.

Shilpa Shetty, Bollywood actor and stakeholder of Rajasthan Royals team that got the axe of the BCCI on Sunday, earlier also said she was too shocked to react immediately on the termination of the franchise contract for alleged breaches by the teams.

Cracking the whip for alleged breach of contract, the Governing Concil of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Sunday axed two franchisees teams- Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab and served a showcase notice on IPL Kochi team.

"It was unanimously decided that the Franchise agreements with K.P.H. Dream Cricket Pvt. Ltd. [Kings XI Punjab] and Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt. Ltd. [Rajasthan Royals] be terminated forthwith based on the Legal opinions obtained by BCCI in the matters, " the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a media release.

"It is shocking. But I will speak on this later after seeing the termination contract, " Raj Kundra, owner of Rajasthan Royals and Shilpa's husband, told a TV channel soon after the news spread.

Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi was earlier accused of having financial connections with these two teams.

The Governing Council of the IPL met at MCA Recreation Centre, BKC, Mumbai to discuss and decide on the breaches committed by three of the franchisees viz., K.P.H. Dream Cricket Pvt. Ltd., Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt. Ltd. and the Unincorporated Joint Venture holding the Kochi Franchise.

Shilpa honeys up!

Shilpa Shetty has teamed up with Dostana director Tarun Mansukhani yet again this time for an ad. The actress who did a Shut Up And Bounce act in his movie has now shot for a honey brand with him.


The commercial was filmed on Wednesday night at a shopping-cum-multiplex in Bandra. The shoot began at midnight and wound up at 7 am.

Lookin' fantastic

Says Mansukhani, "I can't reveal the details of the ad at this stage as the makers want to launch it in a big way. Shilpa is the brand ambassador of the product.

But what I can say is that she is looking fantastic."

This is the third time that the writer-director is making a commercial. He has worked with Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai and Karan Johar-Kareena Kapoor in earlier ads.

Adds Shetty, "It was great working with Tarun after Dostana. I had a long but interesting shoot with the team and him. I enjoyed it."

The actress, known for her svelte figure and for being extremely health-conscious, is now spreading the virtues of honey in one's daily diet. She is also currently seen in a shampoo ad.

I believe in karma

Shilpa Shetty has revealed that she believes in karma.

According to the Times of India, the Celebrity Big Brother winner said that she and her husband "are both karma believers".

The actress, who has been celebrating the annual Hindu festival Ganeshotsav with husband Raj Kundra, attributed her recent successes to her religious beliefs.

"I believe in all gods. And Ganpati is the lord of success and removes obstacles. Big Brother happened for me, a whole lot of opportunities opened up for me, and I also met Raj," she said.

Shetty recalled weekly pilgrimages to Mumbai's Siddhivinayak Temple, saying: "I was going through a lean phase and I don't know how many Tuesdays I walked. It must be over 21. But I could see the difference it made to my life."

Shilpa Shetty 'not leaving Bollywood'

Shilpa Shetty has denied reports that she is planning to quit the film industry.

Since winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2007, the star has drastically cut down on her film work and has not been seen on the big screen since a special appearance in Dostana almost two years ago.

Speaking to Daily News & Analysis, the actor explained: "I don't remember telling anybody that I am leaving Bollywood for good. But yes, I don't need to do the same thing over and over again.

"I have become finicky as an actor. I won't take up anything and everything that [comes] my way, but that does not imply that I'm moving away from films. Yes, my priorities have changed, but the hunger for creativity is still there."

After winning praise for her performance on 'Shut up and Bounce', Shetty indicated she may film another promotional number: "I'm glad that the song still gets talked about. Yes, I might be doing something like that again, but not in Dostana 2."

In fact, Shilpa had produced a video of her own named Shilpa's Yoga back in 2008. The DVD consisted of a 2 hour video wherein Shilpa explained the correct ways to perform yoga aasanas. The suave actress had also featured on the cover of Shape magazine.

Shilpa rubbishes temple complaint as "uncalled for tamasha"

Mumbai :: Actor Shilpa Shetty has slammed the police complaint filed against her for misbehaving inside a temple as "uncalled for tamasha", adding that she is being made a scapegoat because of her celebrity status.

The star who shot for a reality show at the Shakhi Gopal Temple in Orissa, was later named in an FIR lodged by the temple authorities who alleged that Shetty and her team had broken the protocol of the Hindu temple.

"It is preposterous. The fact of the matter is that we didn’t even shoot in the temple...I still don't know why the FIR is in my name because I was there hired as an actor to perform for the channel. The production wasn't mine...They have to stop making scapegoats of celebrities," wrote the Actor in her blog.

Ms. Shetty who shot to international fame after winning the British reality TV show 'Big Brother' said that she grew up in a spiritual family and knows how to conduct herself in religious places.

"Being born into a spiritual family I know how to conduct myself, I've spent a good part of my life visiting temples all over, so there was a report that said I walked into the temple with slippers on! Please stop this uncalled for tamasha," wrote the Actor.

The Actor was at the centre of another controversy in 2007 when a FIR was filed against her after the infamous incident where Hollywood actor Richard Gere hugged and kissed her publicly during a AIDS awarenes show.

Shilpa and Katrina to perform at the Johannesburg

Undeterred by her team, Rajasthan Royals, not being able retain their championship status, Shilpa Shetty revealed her true sportsman spirit as she joins American Rand B sensation Akon singing Smack That at the closing ceremony of IPL at the Wanderer in Johannesburg Sunday night.

Joining at event will also be the beautiful and the gorgeous Katirna Kaif dancing on Oscar winner AR Rahman’s Jai Ho with Indian and South African dance troupes led by Shamiak Davar. “Shilpa and Katrina are the only two actresses performing at the show thus ending the speculation that a host of Bollywood beauties would be making their presence felt at the show,” said a source. The source added, “Besides Shilpa’s and Katrina’s performances the show will also feature percussionist Shivamani and a group of Indian and South African drummers.” The huge crowd will also be introduced to the Miss Bollywood IPL South Africa finalists, culminating with the crowning of the winner of the beauty competition, who will get a guided tour through Bollywood as one of her prizes.

“This apart, 1,500 flying lanterns will be lit and released while a thrilling pyrotechnics show using several thousand rounds of fireworks will light up the Johannesburg skyline as final awards signal the end of an unprecedented cricket event which was keenly taken up by locals, who also opened their hearts to the thousands of Indians who came to watch the series,” said the source.

Missing from Mumbai on her 34th birthday, Shilpa Shetty is where she should be – in the arms of her beau Raj Kundra in London.

Shilpa was there to address the event, but the moment she stepped out of her car the mediapersons immediately gheraoed the actress leading to utter confusion and chaos. She requested everyone to calm down, but the confusion prevailed. In all the chaos a person’s wallet was stolen. “Shilpa knew the person whose wallet was stolen and felt bad for him. The wallet contained not only money but also other personal stuff. The poor guy was on the verge of tears, but Shilpa made up for it. She compensated him for the losses and told him not to regret over something that was lost,” reveals a friend of the actress. We are sure Shilpa has just managed to get herself another fan.
